NEWS FLASH!! NEH 2014: Arendt Seminar Funded

I am delighted to report that I received news from the NEH a few days ago that my application to direct the NEH summer seminar on Hannah Arendt’s political theory has been funded. I will be returning to Bard College’s Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and the Humanities to engage 16 teachers in exciting dialogue on key works of Hannah Arendt.

Since this year also saw the premier of Margareth von Trotta’s film on Arendt, which has been showing to critical acclaim around the country, I am sure the interest in Arendt will be at an all-time high. Still, I rely on colleagues–and former seminar participants especially–to help get the word out about the summer seminar.

In the coming months, I will be posting updates on this web site, including information on the seminar’s subject, posts on Arendt’s writing, and other topics meant to whet the appetites of those interested in the seminar topics.

I also will be adding more materials from past participants work to showcase the exciting projects and other reflections that have come out of seminars past.

I am grateful to the NEH for the opportunity to bring the work of Hannah Arendt to a group of summer scholars willing to devote five weeks to intensive study.

And thanks to all my former participants who have contributed to my own thinking over the years and helped make the seminar experience a highlight of my professional life.
