Just six weeks from today I will be in residence at Bard College, getting ready to welcome the 2012 NEH Summer Scholars with whom I will have the pleasure of working on the political theory of Hannah Arendt for five weeks. We will meet every day in the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities to engage in lively dialogue about the continued relevance of this controversial theorist’s work.
From a competitive pool of applicants, my committee and I selected sixteen teachers to join me this summer. These teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and teach a variety of subjects at schools across the country. You can be introduced to these amazing teachers here.
From time to time I will invite guest bloggers to post on the web site. The first person who accepted my invitation was Nik Unger, who participated in the summer seminar last year. Next up, is John Douglas Macready, a doctoral student working on a dissertation on Arendt, who will also be a summer scholar in the seminar this year.
